A man from the United Kingdom managed to lose an incredible 280 pounds (127 kg) in just two years after walking roughly 6,000 miles (9,700 km) and giving up fast food.
Dave Lancaster, 45, used to eat sausages, fries, pies, and drink wine every day. By 2016, his weight had reached approximately 478 pounds (217 kg), according to Fox News.
At his heaviest, he wore a size 8XL. After his dramatic weight loss, his weight dropped to around 198 pounds (90 kg). His previous weight had also been associated with several health problems, including diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, gout, and sleep apnea.
“I struggled just to walk to work. I went outside so rarely that I was almost completely immobile. As I gained more weight, everything became harder, and my world basically became smaller.”
After losing the weight, everyday activities became much easier for him.
“I can fit comfortably into my car seat and travel on buses, trains, and planes. I no longer worry that a bench might break under my weight. I can buy clothes almost anywhere and put my own socks on. I can walk for miles, run, and go down stairs.”
He achieved his weight loss by combining regular walking with major changes to his diet. He added natural fruit and vegetable juices to his routine and began eating lean meats and fish instead of the fast food and other high-calorie foods he had previously consumed.
